The figure is constructed from richly patinated walnut with a deep, warm tone, showing signs of age and handling consistent with use. Its simplified yet anatomically proportionate form features well-defined torso curvature and articulated joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles, allowing for a wide range of posing. The head and limbs are smoothly turned, with subtle hand and foot shaping. Such lay figures were traditionally used by artists and sculptors as adjustable models for studying human proportion, anatomy, and pose before the widespread availability of photographic reference.
