A magnificent late 19th-century wrought-iron lantern by Valerian Gillar, Vienna, fitted with beveled glass panels.   This exceptional lantern showcases the refined craftsmanship for which the Viennese master Valerian Gillar was known. Richly decorated in ornate Rococo revival style, it features exuberant hand-forged scrollwork, acanthus leaves, and finely pierced openwork details. The six-sided body is framed with beautifully cut glass panels that allow the illumination to highlight the intricacy of the ironwork. A striking and highly decorative piece, exemplary of late 19th-century Viennese metal artistry — both elegant and imposing, perfect as a statement feature in a grand entrance hall, gallery, or period interior.   Label: V. The mahogany frame is adorned with exceptionally detailed gilt-bronze mounts, including floral swags, rosettes, and classical trophies, reflecting the refined neoclassical taste of the period. The frieze is decorated with a central drawer featuring a chased gilt-bronze panel depicting playful putti in relief, framed by draped garlands. The four square, tapering legs are mounted with gilt-bronze appliqués of laurel sprays, quivers, and torches, terminating in foliate sabots. This table exemplifies the Louis XVI revival style that flourished in Paris during the Belle Époque, combining the elegance and symmetry of the 18th century with the technical virtuosity and opulence of late 19th-century French craftsmanship. Each counter features elegant, rounded ends and flowing, sinuous lines characteristic of the Art Nouveau period. The upper section comprises a vitrine display case with curved and bevelled cut-glass panels and top, allowing for an elegant presentation of jewellery or other fine objects. Below, the counters are fitted with multiple drawers adorned with finely cast gilt-bronze handles, providing both beauty and practicality. Beautifully detailed on all sides, these counters were conceived to stand freely in the room or dressing room, making them visually striking from every angle.
